This Week’s Goals

It has been an unusual week this week:

  1. trying new workouts hoping to keep myself motivated to continue exercising do some physical fitness;
  2. meditation to reduce stress in the way that physical exercise hasn’t been able to;
  3. aerobics with Jillian Michaels last Saturday after which I had to take it easy for a few days before doing a stretch routine; and
  4. and then Wednesday the aeroweights using 2-pound dumbbells.

The best thing of all this week is that I have had a chat with my social worker about the personal things that have been going on in my life. After the last session I felt “Maybe if someone had talked to me like this when I was younger…”  – not because I would have done things differently. That’s not it. When I’m older now, for some reason, my understanding of things is clearer.

When I was a teen and in my 20s and 30s life was all about fun.

I was down to earth then and still am.

Anyways, I’m not feeling guilty (much) for not exercising as much this week. I had reasons.

The best reason is getting the muscles to relax. I definitely don’t want to have additional back injuries.

I’ll be seeing my family doctor 16 days from today. Hopefully she can give me information or refer me to a specialist. I want to be able to try different types of exercises (no…still not thinking about weight training – almost anything but not this one) but without the resulting back injuries and strain that I usually get.

The week isn’t over yet. In my mind I was thinking about doing 2 1.5 hours of brisk walking but the thing is it’s Saturday and I have errands to do. Unlike Wednesday, there are no walking minutes to count in these errands. They’re only a [short] block.
